Single-Vehicle Crash Closes U.S. 278 Near Calhoun–Etowah County Line

Etowah County — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:34 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, has resulted in a road blockage along U.S. Highway 278 near the Calhoun–Etowah County line in Etowah County.

According to information released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), all lanes of U.S. 278 in the area are currently closed and are expected to remain closed for an undetermined amount of time as officials respond to the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway is reopened
