Ms. Verna Carolyn Young, age 94, of Cedar Bluff, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Cherokee County Health and Rehab. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Cosby officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Hopewell Advent Church Cemetery.
Ms. Young was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was known for ministering to those around her, often sharing the message, “See what God has done.” She retired as a teacher from Cedar Bluff School after many years of dedicated service, touching the lives of countless students in her community.
Ms. Young is survived by her lifelong best friend, Barbara Gipson; her daughter, Tonya; special cousins, Roy Lee Wester, Tommy Young, Regina (Phil) Stinson, and Pam (Tim) Burgess; as well as a host of other family members, friends, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Clifford and Lillie Cathrine Young and her sisters, Vera Young and Barbara Ann Woodall.
The family respectfully requests no flowers.
