Mr. Gary Brent Ransum, age 76 of Leesburg, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Nation officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Cherokee Memory Gardens.

Brent was a 1967 graduate of Cherokee County High School where he played on the football team. He retired from Cherokee Electric Cooperative after 30 years. Brent spent his retirement as a hay farmer, which he loved, along with hunting and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Centre.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Ransum; son, Lee Ransum (Johnna); brothers, Terrell Ransum and Neil Ransum; special cousin-brothers, Tom Lecroy and Jerry Whatley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Voyd Gramlin Ransum and Elna Edith Estes Ransum; and brother, Mike Ransum.

Pallbearers will be Craig Ray, David Castleberry, Brad Castleberry, Larry Pope, Lanny Ransum and Pat Trammell. Honorary pallbearers will be his special friends at the Fuel City Breakfast Club.

The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
