The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its latest baseball and softball rankings early Thursday morning. The biggest changes for area teams this week were within Class 3A baseball. Collinsville (15-2) moved up a spot to No. 2, while Piedmont (12-4) dropped from the top spot to No. 3.

Other area baseball teams nominated this week include Cherokee County (7-9), Gaylesville (3-5), and Spring Garden (6-8).

In softball, Sand Rock (10-4) moved up two spots to No. 5 in the Class 2A rankings. Cherokee County (9-8) and Spring Garden (5-6) received nominations.
