Coosa Christian Names Alaric Williams Head Football Coach

GADSDEN — Coosa Christian School has announced the hiring of Alaric Williams as the next head football coach of the Conquerors program, promoting a rising young leader in Alabama high school football who school officials say brings a strong commitment to faith, player development, and building a championship culture.

Williams, 27, steps into the role after serving as the program’s offensive coordinator and is already regarded as one of the youngest winning coaches in the state. A graduate of Southside High School, Williams was a highly recruited four-star athlete who signed with Auburn and earned recognition not only for his play on the field but also for the leadership qualities that have shaped his coaching career.

For Williams, accepting the position represents more than a career move.

“This means everything to me because this is my God-given purpose — to lead young men to Christ and prepare them for the challenges that come with growing into a Godly man,” Williams said.

Williams said his vision for Coosa Christian football centers on faith, accountability, and excellence, emphasizing that the program will remain grounded in Christ-centered values.

“We will uphold the high standard of Coosa by putting ministry first while being excellent and competitive in all we do,” Williams said. “Building the foundation of this program on Christ is what makes it special.”

Williams said he plans to foster a team culture built on discipline, brotherhood, and relentless effort, noting that success comes not only from talent but from character and accountability.

“I want our players to be identified by a relentless, no-quit attitude,” he said. “We are building men who honor their brothers above themselves. Accountability is imperative in this program.”

Having previously served on the coaching staff, Williams said continuity will remain a priority as he brings his own vision to the program.

“My leadership and values will always remain the same, regardless of the title,” Williams said. “Our goal is to continue building a championship culture by helping our students submit to Christ and become the best version of themselves.”

Williams credited longtime mentor Mark O’Bryant as a major influence in his coaching journey. O’Bryant coached Williams as a young athlete and later provided his first opportunity in coaching.

“Coach O’Bryant believed in me early, and that mentorship helped shape the coach and leader I am today,” Williams said.

He also emphasized the importance of support from the broader school and community.

“Community buy-in is what feeds a program,” Williams said. “When a community is aligned, it creates an environment where young men can thrive.”

Coosa Christian Head of School Julie Delp expressed confidence in Williams’ leadership and his ability to carry forward the school’s mission.

“I have full faith in Alaric carrying on the mission of Coosa Christian,” Delp said. “He has a gift with students and is an exceptional role model that points students to Christ. He’s a proven winning coach on and off the field. He’s family.”

As he begins his tenure as head coach, Williams said his message to players, families, and supporters is simple: “Trust the process.”

School leaders say Williams represents the next generation of leadership in Alabama high school football, and they believe the future of Conqueror football remains bright under his direction.
