During the Centre City Council meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Council voted to spend $5600 to repair the bathroom facilities at the J.W. Hampton Field and to add a new pavilion with a cost of $9400.
The fire department is getting new turnout gear including helmets, gloves and boots in the amount of $19695. Fire Marshall Pace told the Council the gear has to be replaced every 10 years. The Council also approved the Emergency Networking Program for the Department in the amount of $1500 initially and then $3945 annually.
It was approved for the City to apply for an America 250AL grant in the amount of $2500 to help in the celebration of the 250th Birthday of America in conjunction of opening ceremonies of the new City Hall on May 15th and the America 250AL Event to be held on Estes Field on May 16th.
Mayor Howell will serve as a voting delegate for the City at the upcoming League of Municipalities meeting in April. Karen Slupe and Caretha Clifton will serve as voting alternates.
Mary Owens was reappointed to the Zoning Adjustment Board for a 3 year term.
It was announced that Governor Ivey will be attending the Ceremonies officially renaming the Centre Community Center Building on May 6th at 11am. The Building will then be known as the Mary George Jordan Waite Community Center.
The next Centre City Council meeting will be on April 14th at 5pm in the Council Chambers
