GADSDEN, Ala.- A coordinated narcotics investigation led to the seizure of a significant amount of suspected drugs, cash and a firearm during a search warrant operation in East Gadsden on March 13, 2026.
The Gadsden Police Department’s Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN) Unit, working in collaboration with the Glencoe Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Region F Task Force, executed the warrant as part of an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking in the area.
Authorities reported the following items were recovered during the search:

28 grams of suspected fentanyl

127 grams of suspected methamphetamine
-
More than $32,000 in U.S. currency

One firearm
Officials say the search warrant is part of a broader, ongoing investigation aimed at identifying and dismantling drug trafficking operations in and around the Gadsden area. Due to the active nature of the case, additional details have not been released.
“The City of Gadsden is committed to making our community safer for every resident. Operations like this one send a clear message that we will not tolerate drug activity in our city. We are actively working to clean up Gadsden, and I am proud of the men and women in law enforcement who put themselves on the line every day to make that happen,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford.
“This just shows the dedication of our SCAN Unit and the partnerships we have built with our neighboring agencies. I am so proud of the work our officers do each and every day to protect the citizens of Gadsden,” said Gadsden Police Chief Lamar Jaggears.
The Gadsden Police Department thanked the Glencoe Police Department and ALEA SBI for their assistance in the operation, noting that strong partnerships between agencies are essential in combating drug trafficking and violent crime throughout the region.
