Anniston Police Department Awarded Norfolk Southern Safety Grant for Drone Technology
ANNISTON — The Anniston Police Department has received a grant through Norfolk Southern’s Safety First Grant Program, providing new resources to enhance public safety efforts in the community.
According to the department, the funding will be used to support crime prevention initiatives and search and rescue operations. A primary focus of the grant is the purchase of an all-weather drone, which will expand the department’s existing drone capabilities.
Officials said the new equipment will be used alongside current drone technology to improve response efforts while also increasing safety for officers in the field.
The Anniston Police Department expressed appreciation to Norfolk Southern for the investment, noting the grant reflects recognition of the department’s work and supports broader efforts to strengthen communities across the country.
