CENTRE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 6-4 win over Cedar Bluff on Friday to clinch a spot in the Cherokee County Softball Tournament title game.
The Lady Warriors await the winner of Saturday’s 9 a.m. elimination game between Cedar Bluff and Sand Rock in the championship game at 10:30 a.m.
Sydni Frost led the Lady Warriors at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance. Brooklynn Bruce went 3-for-5 with a RBI. Sofie Dawson was 2-for-5 with a run and a RBI. Emma Eberhart and Kar’leigh Bowman were both 2-for-4 with a RBI. Aubrey Pack finished 1-for-3.
Ciana Smith led Cedar Bluff at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Logan Goza, Rylie Walker, and CeCe Davis each drove in a run for the Lady Tigers.
Spring Garden 6, Gaylesville 2
CENTRE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers earned a 6-2 victory over Gaylesville in the losers bracket of the Cherokee County Tournament on Friday.
Hayden Parris led the Lady Panthers at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Addie Word homered and drove in two runs. Maya Jennings doubled and scored a run. Lleyton Carroll contributed a hit and a run. Ava Boatner drove in a run and Ellie Miller drew a walk.
Kendall Birchfield earned the win. She allowed one earned run on a pair of hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Aubree Colbert doubled and scored a run for the Lady Trojans. Lydia Reynolds had a hit and a walk. MaKenlee Young scored a run.
Reynolds suffered the loss after allowing four earned runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
Sand Rock 8, Spring Garden 3
CENTRE – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats pushed across four runs in the bottom of the second inning and four more in the fourth to take an 8-3 victory over Spring Garden in the Cherokee County Tournament on Friday.
Emma Sipsy went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Wildcats with a run and a RBI. She also earned the win after working five innings, allowing no earned runs on five hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Taylyn Warren went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs for Sand Rock. Molly Grace Lay and Alyvia McMichen both had a hit with a run and a RBI. Ashlyn McMichen added a hit, a walk, and a run. Aubie Camp contributed a hit and drove in a run.
Macy Martin walked, scored a run, and had two RBIs. Kinzlee Peek walked twice and scored a run. Madison Walker drew a walk.
Madison Jennings went 3-for-3 with a double, a run, and a RBI for Spring Garden. Addie Word had a hit and scored a run. Paisley Woodall finished with a hit. Ava Boatner drove in a run,
Word worked three innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Olivia Messer tossed an inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout.
