Hill helps Lady Warriors advance to Cherokee County Softball Tournament winners bracket

CENTRE – Emma Hill went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. She also earned the win in the circle after working five innings and allowing an earned run on six hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts in the Cherokee County Lady Warriors’ 7-2 softball win over Sand Rock in the Cherokee County Tournament on Thursday.

Kaylee Lewis doubled and scored a run for the Lady Warriors (4-6). Emma Eberhart added a hit, a run, and two RBIs. Sofie Dawson delivered a hit, a walk, and a run. Izzy Patterson contributed a hit, a run, and a RBI. Brooklynn Bruce had a hit and scored a run. Kar’leigh Bowman had a hit and walked.

Taylyn Warren and Macy Martin both went 2-for-3 with a run apiece for Sand Rock (6-3). Martin also drove in a run. Aubie Camp and Molly Grace Lay both finished with a hit.

Emma Sipsy suffered the loss to Sand Rock. She worked four innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Sand Rock outlasted Gaylesville in the tournament opener 8-6. Final stats from that game were not available as of this posting.

Gaylesville will face Spring Garden in losers bracket action on Friday at 4 p.m. Sand Rock will take on the winner at 7 p.m.

Cherokee County advances to Friday’s winners bracket game and will battle Cedar Bluff at 5:30 p.m.

Cedar Bluff 11, Spring Garden 6

CENTRE – A 7-run top of the second inning helped lead the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers past Spring Garden 11-6 in the Cherokee County Softball Tournament on Thursday.

Piper Cromer led the Lady Tigers (4-5) by going 3-for-3 with a double at the plate. Cromer and Kyriah Vadon both drove in a pair of runs.

Kylie Vadon, CeCe Davis, Tylee Bradford, and Paityn Walker each collected multiple hits for the Lady Tigers. One of Walker’s hits was a triple in the second. She also stole two bases. Kyriah Vadon drove in a pair of runs.
Kyriah Vadon also tossed three innings in the circle. She gave up five earned runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Emma Blanks pitched an inning of scoreless ball, allowing just a walk with a strikeout.

Kendall Birchfield started in the circle for Spring Garden (0-2). She allowed eight runs on 11 hits with two walks and no strikeouts.

Lleyton Carroll, Paisely Woodall, and Maya Jennings each had a pair of hits for the Lady Panthers. Carroll also drove in a pair of runs.

Cedar Bluff advances to Friday’s winners bracket and will face Cherokee County on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Spring Garden drops to the losers bracket and will take on Gaylesville on Friday at 4 p.m.
