Second Suspect in State Line Tavern Robbery Arrested After Months on the Run

Centre— A second suspect connected to a December 2025-armed robbery and subsequent police chase that ended in a crash in Centre has now been taken into custody.
Authorities say 23-year-old Alric Gabriel Crawford of Centre was recently arrested in Floyd County, Georgia, and is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond. Crawford is charged with armed robbery in connection with the December 28, 2025 robbery of the State Line Tavern in Floyd County.

Investigators say Crawford entered the business armed with a gun and demanded money from the clerk, taking approximately $3,000 before fleeing the scene.

Crawford is one of three men accused in the robbery. According to authorities, the suspects were later spotted by law enforcement in the early morning hours the following day when officers located a vehicle believed to be connected to the robbery.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Cedar Bluff Road approaching Centre, but the driver fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed on West Main Street near South Pratt Street in Centre.
Authorities reported that three suspects fled the vehicle on foot following the crash. Several hours later, a Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputy and a Centre police officer located and arrested Jeffrey Smith, 23, of Gadsden, who was taken into custody and charged with attempting to elude.
Law enforcement agencies from across Cherokee County conducted an extensive search in the area following the crash. Officers searched neighborhoods around West Main Street and South River Street, and residents in the area were advised to remain inside their homes, lock their doors, and contact authorities if they observed anything suspicious. Officials at the time warned that the remaining suspects were considered armed and dangerous.
With Crawford now in custody, authorities say one suspect remains at large in connection with the robbery.
The investigation into the incident continues.
