DeBerry Recognized for Completing Alabama Investigator Academy Session 14

Dakota DeBerry was recognized for successfully completing Session 14 of the Alabama Investigator Academy, a comprehensive 96-hour investigative training program conducted from October 14, 2025, through February 11, 2026.
The academy provided advanced instruction designed to enhance investigative knowledge, evidence handling, and case management skills for law enforcement professionals. Through the course, he received training in a wide range of investigative disciplines.
Instruction included criminal investigations, crime scene processing, advanced crime scene processing, imprint and impression evidence, trace evidence analysis, and crime scene photography. Additional coursework covered areas such as fire investigation, digital forensics, and death investigations, providing practical knowledge for handling complex and sensitive cases.
The academy also focused on investigative procedures and legal considerations, including criminal law procedures, basic interview techniques, and case investigation methods. Training emphasized proper documentation and case management through case file preparation, along with the analysis of in-depth case studies to reinforce investigative decision-making and evidence evaluation.
The program concluded with instruction on case presentation, ensuring investigators can effectively organize and present investigative findings in a clear and professional manner.
Completion of the academy has strengthened his ability to conduct thorough investigations, properly process and document evidence, and prepare cases for prosecution. The training supports continued professional development and enhances the investigative capabilities provided to the community and the Town of Cedar Bluff.
