CEDAR BLUFF – Spring Garden scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 baseball win at Cedar Bluff on Saturday.
Joel Hunter went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs for the Panthers (5-5). Brady Ruark and Clayton Sadler also both had a pair of hits and a RBI apiece. Ben Baker added a hit and a RBI. Zack Scogin had a hit and a walk. Kaylor Free had a hit and scored a run. Dawson Ellzey finished with a hit.
Baker earned the win for the Panthers. He went the distance, giving up an unearned run on six hits with a walk and 12 strikeouts.
Fischer Young suffered the loss for the Tigers (3-6). He gave up three earned runs on nine hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. He also had a pair of hits at the plate with a double.
Kuper Bradley had a hit and scored the lone Cedar Bluff run. Bubba Chadwick, Kadien Tracy, and Sam Payne each contributed a hit for the Tigers.
