Sen. Katie Britt and Local Officals Speak on Major Industrial Investment in Gadsden

Gadsden — U.S. Senator Katie Britt joined state and local leaders in commenting on a major industrial announcement in Gadsden as global automotive supplier Minth Group Limited revealed plans for a $430 million manufacturing campus that will create more than 1,300 jobs.
The announcement was made at the future site of the facility on a 400-acre brownfield property that previously housed Republic Steel and Gulf States Steel. The project will transform the former steelmaking site into Minth Group’s largest campus worldwide.

The new facility will manufacture high-quality plastic and aluminum components for automakers’ U.S. production plants, including Hyundai in Montgomery and Kia in West Point, Georgia.
State officials say the investment further strengthens Alabama’s position as a leader in automotive manufacturing.

“Alabama is a worldwide leader in automotive innovation, and Minth Group Limited’s plans to build an advanced manufacturing hub in Gadsden is another successful chapter for our state industry,” said Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair.
McNair said the continued growth of the state’s automotive sector is driven by the strength of its workforce.
“Our automakers and supplier operations are filled with experts who are building high-quality, in-demand products for markets around the world,” McNair said. “Their work continues to draw new additions to our auto industry, where they find supportive partnerships and a true home in communities across the state.”
