Cedar Bluff baseball sweeps doubleheader at Section

SECTION – The Cedar Bluff Tigers swept a baseball doubleheader at Section on Thursday.

The Tigers used a seven-run first inning and held on for a 14-8 victory in game one. In the second game, the Tigers rallied from a seven-run deficit, capped off by a five-run seventh, to take am 11-9 victory to improve to 3-5 on the season.

In the first game, Kyler Bradley went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs, and four RBIs. Bubba Chadwick was also 3-for-5 with a run and a RBI.

Sam Payne went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs, and three RBIs. Hunter Mobbs was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.

Dylan McDaniel delivered a hit and scored a pair of runs. Dallas Story also had a hit and a run.

Bryson Teague and Fischer Young both walked twice and scored a run. Kadien Tracy scored a run and had two RBIs. Grady Wheeler and Will Davis both scored a run.

Bryant Gravley pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Trent Dixon tossed 1 1/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on a hit with three walks and three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Teague led the Tigers by going 3-for-5 with a run. Tracy went 2-for-4 with three runs. Dixon was also 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Chadwick doubled, walked, scored two runs, and had two RBIs. Mobbs doubled, walked, and drove in a run. Bradley and McDaniel both had a hit, walk, and a run. Bradley also had a RBI. Mobbs contributed a hit, a walk, and a RBI.

Young walked twice and drove in a run. Wheeler and Story both scored a run.

Mobbs tossed 5 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Chadwick pitched 1 1/3 innings and surrendered two earned runs on a hit with four walks and a strikeout.

Cedar Bluff hosts Spring Garden on Saturday at 10 a.m.
