Anniston Police Department Releases 2025 Annual Report Showing Decline in Crime

ANNISTON — The Anniston Police Department has released its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting significant reductions in both violent and property crime across the city.

According to the report, violent crime in Anniston decreased by 15.5 percent in 2025 compared to 2024. Property crime also saw a decline, dropping by 14.8 percent during the same period.

Officials say the numbers are part of a continuing long-term trend showing improvements in public safety throughout the community. Since 2016, violent crime in Anniston has decreased by 58.7 percent.

Police department leaders attribute the progress to the dedication of officers and ongoing proactive policing strategies aimed at preventing crime and strengthening community safety.

The report also highlights staffing improvements within the department. During 2025, the Anniston Police Department hired 11 new officers, increasing its ability to respond to calls and patrol neighborhoods throughout the city.

As of March 5, 2026, officials say the department is just one officer away from reaching full staffing levels.

City officials praised the efforts of the department’s officers and staff, noting their continued commitment to protecting residents and improving quality of life in Anniston.
