Marginal Risk of Severe Weather Forecast for Saturday

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued an updated forecast indicating the potential for severe weather across parts of Alabama on Saturday.

According to the latest forecast update, a Marginal Risk for severe storms — classified as Level 1 out of 5 on the Storm Prediction Center’s scale — has been introduced for Saturday afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through the region.

Forecasters say storms are expected to develop late Saturday ahead of the approaching front. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, a few storms could become strong.
The primary threat associated with these storms will be damaging straight-line wind gusts, which could reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware Saturday afternoon and evening, particularly if thunderstorms develop in their area. Strong wind gusts can bring down trees and power lines and may cause isolated power outages.

The National Weather Service will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as the system approaches.
