Sand Rock softball holds off Piedmont

SAND ROCK – Alyvia McMichen went 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs and three RBIs to help the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats earn a 13-8 softball win over Piedmont on Monday.

Molly Grace Lay collected a pair of doubles, a walk, two runs, and three RBIs for Sand Rock (1-0). Raven Todd was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs, and a RBI. Macy Martin went 2-for-2 with three walks and three runs.

Aubie Camp delivered a double, two walks, two runs, and three RBIs. Kinzlee Peek had a hit and two RBIs. Emma Sipsy added a hit and a run. Amelia Ford walked and scored a run. Taylyn Warren also walked.

Martin earned the win after working three innings. She allowed no earned runs on a hit with two walks and five strikeouts. Sipsy tossed four innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Keagan Rogers led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Kaelyn Greene delivered a double and three RBIs. Anna Hase also doubled and scored a run. Nakiya Bothwell had a hit, a walk, and two runs. Ellie Tolbert finished with a hit and a RBI.

Rogers suffered the loss after working 1 2/3 innings. She allowed six earned runs on seven hits with four walks and a strikeout. Callie Faulkner tossed 4 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

Piedmont hosts Wellborn on Tuesday. Sand Rock travels to Gaston on Thursday.
