ATTALLA – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but fell short in their softball season opener at Etowah by the final of 4-3.

Izzy Patterson led the Lady Warriors at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Emma Hill added a hit and a RBI. Kaylee Lewis contributed a hit and a walk. Sydni Frost contributed a hit and scored a run. Brooklynn Bruce finished with a hit. Sofie Dawson scored a run and Kar’leigh Bowman drew a walk.

Hill suffered the loss after working six innings. She allowed just one earned run on five hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Cherokee County is at White Plains on Thursday.
