Ribbon Cutting and Opening of Cherokee County Courthouse
The Ribbon cutting and official opening of the new Cherokee County Courthouse will probably be in April. At this time, the Contractors and Architect are still doing the final touchups to be sure everything is ready for the County to take control of the majestic structure.
WEIS Radio News Department was given a tour of the 37,500 square foot Courthouse this week. The massive building is “State Of The Art” in every way. From the design and elegant finish, inside and out, to the Court Rooms with electronic display for those in the gallery and the jurors, it is surely something the residence of Cherokee County can be proud of.
There are 3 Court Rooms where trials and hearings can be conducted simultaneously and an area in the District Court Suite for private hearings.
There are also two safe rooms in the facility for employees and patrons in the facility in the event of a weather event.
When you enter the facility, you get the feel of a State Building in Montgomery.
Probate Judge-Commission Chairman, Tim Burgess, said the plan is for the final walk through and approval by County Officials to occur around mid March. He said it could take as long as a month to get all the furniture in and all work stations and offices ready for Public Service. The Judges have already been training in their new element and others will have to be trained with the new technology involved.
It will be a Historical and exciting time for the Special event. WEIS Radio News will keep you updated on the progress and the date of the Grand Opening of the Cherokee County Courthouse.
