Scottsboro Man Arrested After Machete Incident

SCOTTSBORO, Ala.– Scottsboro Police officers responded to a reported disturbance involving a man armed with a machete at a residence on Orange Street late Monday night.

According to police, officers were dispatched around 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 17 and arrived to find 42-year-old Eric Maurice Scott acting erratically inside a bedroom of the home. Authorities say a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation before officers were able to take Scott into custody.

During the investigation, officers recovered a machete and located illegal narcotics inside the residence. Police reported finding synthetic cannabinoids, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Scott was first transported to the Scottsboro City Jail and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

He faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, domestic violence, and resisting arrest.
