A Jacksonville State University student is now officially serving Cherokee County in a new role.

Officials noted Reed began her service as an intern and has since been called out on multiple death investigation runs — earning praise from those she’s worked alongside. During the ceremony, colleagues nodded in agreement as her dedication and professionalism were highlighted.

Reed is currently a student at JSU, where she maintains strong academic performance and plans to pursue her master’s degree. Her coursework includes medical-legal death investigation, crime scene investigation, and photography, along with numerous other related classes.

During the ceremony, Reed placed her left hand on the Bible, raised her right hand, and took the oath of office, swearing to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Alabama, and to faithfully discharge the duties of Deputy Coroner to the best of her ability.

With the oath complete and applause from those in attendance, Reed officially began her service as Deputy Coroner for Cherokee County.
