Marshall County Deputy Resigns After Domestic Violence Arrest in Arab

Marshall County-A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy has resigned following his arrest on a domestic violence charge in Arab.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Austin Beard was arrested by the Arab Police Department on Feb. 7 at approximately 5:30 p.m. on a charge of Domestic Violence in the third degree.

Officers responded to a residence on Hulaco Road in Arab, where they determined Beard was the aggressor in the incident and had assaulted the victim.
Prior to the arrest, Beard had recently been removed from the School Resource Officer Division and reassigned to the Court Division due to an unrelated issue involving a school employee.
Because of his employment with the sheriff’s office, Beard was booked and held at the Albertville City Jail. Authorities say he has since posted bond.
Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims announced that Beard has resigned from his position.
“As Sheriff, I hold my deputies to a high standard of conduct on duty and off duty,” Sims said in a statement. “I will not tolerate any employee whose conduct violates the law and which erodes public trust. As of this morning, Deputy Beard has resigned his position as a deputy sheriff and is no longer employed by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.”
