Two Arrested in Jacksonville Man’s Death

JACKSONVILLE, Ala.– Two people are now behind bars in connection with the death of a Jacksonville man who had been missing for weeks, according to authorities.

Records from the Talladega County Jail show 34-year-old Jesse Austin Heald was booked Friday and is charged with capital murder and robbery.

Jail records also show 35-year-old Tiffani Renee Nichol charged with murder and robbery.

The Jacksonville Police Department confirmed to WBMA-TV ABC 33/40 that both Nichol and Heald were arrested and charged in connection with the death of 51-year-old Patrick Slade Boothe.

Boothe was last seen leaving the Parker Place Southwest area of Jacksonville on January 23, according to police. Earlier this week, Police Chief Marcus Wood announced Boothe had been found deceased.

Police say the investigation remains active, and because of its nature, they are not releasing additional details at this time.

In a statement released February 4, Chief Wood asked for prayers and privacy for Boothe’s family, adding that law enforcement has already been in contact with them.

Authorities say numerous agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Oxford Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, Pell City Police Department, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, among others.

No further information has been released about how Boothe died or the circumstances leading to the arrests. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
