SAND ROCK – Cedar Bluff’s Shon Gleen scored 16 of his game-high 34 points in the third quarter. His performance helped turn a one-point Tiger lead into an 11-point advantage heading into the fourth of a 69-48 decision over Pleasant Valley Saturday in the Class 2A, Area 13 boys basketball tournament on Saturday at Sand Rock.
Gleen sank four 3-pointers in the game for No. 10 Cedar Bluff (19-10), who will face Sand Rock for the area title on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Kuper Bradley also connected on four treys, including three in the first quarter. He finished with 17 points. Jonas Brown and Zach Jones both ended with seven points for the Tigers.
Jake Barnwell led the Raiders with 15 points. Braxton Salster netted 12 points and Mason Myers finished with six points.

Collinsville boys outlast Fyffe in OT
GERALDINE – The Collinsville Panthers went on a 7-2 run in overtime to take a 47-40 victory over Fyffe in the Class 3A, Area 13 boys basketball tournament at Geraldine on Saturday.
Sam Stewart led the Panthers (16-6) with 18 points. Sylas Adams added 13 points, including four in overtime. Bentley Jones and Mason McAteer managed nine and six points respectively.
Dontarius Earl topped Fyffe with nine points. Dawson McCollum, Jacob Williamson, and Jacob Stiefel each finished with five points.
Collinsville held a 5-3 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 16-13 edge at halftime. The two teams were tied at 28 at the end of the third quarter and at 38 at the end of regulation.
Collinsville advances to Tuesday’s area championship game against host Geraldine at 6 p.m. Geraldine defeated Sylvania 60-31 in other area tournament action on Saturday.
Cameron’s eight treys help Donoho sink Spring Garden boys
JACKSONVILLE – Donoho’s Jayden Cameron sank eight 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 28 points to lift the Falcons to a 59-51 victory over Spring Garden in the Class 1A, Area 12 boys basketball tournament at Jacksonville Christian on Saturday.
Spring Garden had three players reach double figures, led by Eli Bates’ 12 points. Erik Rule added 11 points and Brody Bostick scored 10 points. Bates and Bostick sank a pair of 3-pointers apiece.
Brady Ruark and Noah Carnes came away with seven and five points respectively.
Carson Chandler managed 11 points for Donoho. Ethan Crawford and Bryant Whitley both finished with eight points.
The Falcons took a 24-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 28-21 at halftime. The Panthers managed to cut their deficit to a point at 42-41 at the end of the third quarter, but Donoho outscored Spring Garden 17-10 in the fourth for the final to end the Panthers’ season.
Donoho advances Monday’s Area 12 championship game to face Faith Christian. The Lions upset top-seeded Jacksonville Christian 63-52 in other tournament action on Saturday.
Alexandria ends Warriors’ season
ALEXANDRIA – The Cherokee County Warriors held an early lead at Alexandria in the Class 4A, Area 12 basketball tournament on Saturday, but the Valley Cubs pulled ahead and held on for a 43-36 victory.
Tatum Perry led the Warriors with 12 points. Alex Rogers and Owen Jacoway finished with seven and six points respectively.
JJ Beason and Cole Wheeler netted 10 points apiece to lead the Valley Cubs. Beason connected on a pair of 3-pointers. MJ Morris netted nine points and Royce Trantham finished with five points.
The Warriors held a 12-7 lead after one, but Alexandria took a 22-16 lead into halftime. The Valley Cubs led 29-21 after three quarters.
Alexandria advances to face Cleburne County for the area championship on Tuesday. The Tigers topped White Plains 60-40 in other tournament action on Saturday.
Girls
Vadon nets 32 in Cedar Bluff rout of Gaston
SAND ROCK – Kylie Vadon tossed in 32 points, grabbed six rebounds, had five steals, and dished out a pair of assists to lead fifth-ranked Cedar Bluff to a 73-43 blowout of Gaston in Class 2A, Area 13 tournament action at Sand Rock on Saturday.
Janaya Higgins added 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal for the Lady Tigers (22-6), who will face fourth-ranked Sand Rock for the area title on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Ciana Smith tallied 12 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Vana Martin finished with seven points, five steals, three assists, and two rebounds.
Brooklynn Merriman connected on three 3-pointers and had 18 points to lead Gaston. Charlee Skaggs came away with 10 points. Autumn Simmons and Dasie Street both finished with six points.
Cedar Bluff held a 22-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 43-23 edge at halftime. The Lady Tigers led 53-37 at the end of three quarters.
McMurray’s six treys lifts Spring Garden past Faith Christian
JACKSONVILLE – Lacie McMurray sank six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to lead the Spring Garden Lady Panthers past Faith Christian 46-18 in Class 1A, Area 12 tournament action in Jacksonville on Saturday.
Maya Jennings tallied 10 points and three rebounds. Kylie Bates collected six points, nine steals, five boards, five assists, and five blocked shots.
Addie Word added six points and five assists. Carmen Truss finished with four points and four rebounds.
Spring Garden advances to Monday’s area championship game at 5:30 p.m. where it will face Jacksonville Christian. The Thunder rolled over Gaylesville 52-18 in other tournament action on Saturday.
