Oxford Police Say Rehab Facility Failed to Report Walk-Off

OXFORD, Ala.– A reported escape from a rehabilitation facility that Oxford police say went unreported by staff is renewing calls for increased oversight of rehabilitation and halfway houses across Calhoun County.

According to news releases from the Oxford Police Department and county officials, officers were notified on February 3 by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office that Daniel Lee Jackson had left the Seven Springs Rehabilitation Facility in Anniston the previous day.

Police said Jackson had been placed at Seven Springs Rehabilitation Facility and that the departure was not reported by facility staff. Investigators were also informed by Mobile County authorities that Jackson has a lengthy criminal history involving burglary and vehicle break-ins.

Jackson later turned himself in to his parole officer and is now in custody.
