Mr. Terry Ross Dawson, age 68 of Centre, passed away on February 5, 2026, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Dale officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Teresa Dawson; son Jason Dawson (Abbey); grandchildren, Sofie and Stela Dawson; sister, Hertlean Hundley; brother, Jimmy Dawson (Ginger); many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Gary Freeman.

Pallbearers will be Cody Dawson, Brian Dawson, Christopher Dawson, Shannon Dawson, Adam Hundley, Jamie Grimshaw, Caleb Hallmark and Ricky Hallmark, II.

Terry was born in Rome, Georgia, to Junior and Eunice Dawson on July 17, 1957. He was a 1975 graduate of Cherokee County High School. He worked in construction for most of his life. Terry was an avid hunter and traveler. He was a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, but his true loyalty was to the Cherokee County Warriors. He coached for many years during his son’s time in school, and even continued to coach afterward. He was a mentor to many people. Terry’s greatest joy was his grand babies. He never missed a sporting event they were involved in. Even when his health would not let him travel, he had a big screen TV brought in to stream the games so that he could watch them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Eunice Dawson; brother, Richard Dawson; and brother-in-law, Dave Hundley.

The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Community Church John 3:16 Youth Fund.
