CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — Sheriff Jeff Shaver is reminding residents that simple precautions can go a long way in keeping the community safe.
“As we go about our daily routines, I want to remind everyone that a few simple steps can go a long way in preventing crime,” Sheriff Shaver said. “Being aware of your surroundings, protecting your property, and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right all help keep our community safer.”
The sheriff’s office offers several practical tips for crime prevention:

Report suspicious activity: Contact the sheriff’s office if something doesn’t seem right so deputies can respond quickly.

Record serial numbers: Maintain a list or take photos of serial numbers for tools, equipment, and other valuable items.
