
Albertville, AL — One person is in serious condition following an officer-involved shooting in Albertville.
Albertville Police say officers were dispatched to a reported fight around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Bobwhite Drive. When officers arrived, they found an adult male who had allegedly been assaulted by an adult male family member. Police were able to get the victim to safety.
As officers approached the suspect’s residence, police say they were met with gunfire. Officers returned fire, and the suspect fled back into the home. Additional officers arrived on scene, a perimeter was established, and officers then attempted to have the suspect exit the residence peacefully.
The suspect refused to exit the residence, and the Marshall County Joint Special Response Team was activated.
A standoff followed and lasted approximately two hours. Police say the suspect later exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities confirmed one individual was transported to a hospital and is listed in serious condition. The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and is also listed in serious condition but is expected to survive.
