Big Investment, New Jobs for Fort Payne

ORLANDO, Fla.– Siemens Energy announced Tuesday it will invest more than $1 billion to expand its U.S. manufacturing operations, including a major project in Alabama that will bring new jobs to DeKalb County.

The company plans to increase production of copper and insulation electrical components for generators at its Fort Payne facility. The expansion is expected to create 120 new jobs locally.

Nationwide, Siemens Energy says the broader investment will generate more than 1,500 new positions through manufacturing expansions in Mississippi, North Carolina, Florida, New York and Texas.

Company leaders say the move comes as electricity demand surges, driven by the rapid growth of data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure and industrial electrification.

The investment plan includes several brownfield expansions, increased transformer production and servicing capacity, and strengthened manufacturing of large gas turbines in the United States.

CEO Christian Bruch called the moment a “once-in-a-generation growth opportunity.”

“The current policy environment has contributed to this momentum,” Bruch said. “Energy security, a reliable and resilient grid, and growing U.S. manufacturing jobs are priorities that are driving demand and supporting new investments across the energy sector.”
