Mrs. Cynthia Lyn “Cindy” (Cooper) Hopper passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her.
Cindy was a beloved wife, aunt, and friend to many. She was born August 15, 1954, in Vincennes, Indiana, where she spent most of her childhood before later moving to Centre, Alabama. She was a proud graduate of Cherokee County High School, Class of 1972.
In the 1980s, Cindy owned and operated The Willow Tree, a local boutique where she took great pride in bringing style and fashion to the Centre community. She had a natural eye for beauty and design, and her shop quickly became a favorite for many.
She married the love of her life, Steve Hopper, in 1989. In later years, the couple retired to Tuscaloosa, where Cindy enjoyed cheering on the Crimson Tide and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Hopper; her brother, John Terry Cooper; her nieces, Amber Cooper May (Chase) and Alexis Cooper Brock (Joel); her great-nephews and niece, Cash May, Silas Brock, and Lila May; and her special friend, Elise Keener.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Cooper and Julia Cooper.
Cindy carried herself with grace, warmth, and kindness. She made those around her feel deeply loved, and everything she touched seemed to become more beautiful. Thoughtful and intentional in all she did, her gentle spirit and loving heart will live on in the many lives she touched.
Visitation and a memorial service celebrating Cindy’s life will be held Friday, January 30, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Centre First United Methodist Church.
