Paving Funds May Be Coming to Centre

The Centre City Council approved a resolution during its regular meeting on Tuesday for the City to apply for a Rebuild Alabama Grant in the amount $400,000. Mayor Howell said the funds, if approved, would be used to pave City Streets. It would require a $100,000 City match.

In other business the Council approved the Master Gardner’s Plant Sale in the City Park on April 11th, $1200 in support of the Youth Prevention Conference, $1000 for the 4H program, $350 to the Alabama Forestry for Arbor Day tree give away, and $5450 for a floor scrubber to be used at City Hall, the Gym, and the Fire Department.

The Council reappointed Jason Dawson to the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority and adopted a resolution for the City to intervene as a defendant in litigation to protect the City’s interest in the ongoing Simplified Seller Tax Suit.

The next Centre City Council meeting will be on February 10th at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
