Delayed Openings and Closures for Tuesday, January 27

Several area school systems, government offices, and organizations are operating on delayed schedules or are closed today due to cold temperatures affecting the region.

Among local school systems, Cherokee County Schools are operating on a three-hour delay. Attalla City Schools, Etowah County Schools, Gadsden City Schools, Fort Payne City Schools, Westbrook Christian School, are all operating on a two-hour delay.

Marshall County Schools are closed for the day.

At Coosa Christian, there will be no morning care. Students in grades K–8 will operate on a two-hour delay, while grades 9–12 will participate in virtual instruction.

Higher education institutions are largely unaffected. Gadsden State Community College and Georgia Northwestern Technical College are both operating on a normal schedule.

County offices have also adjusted operations. All Cherokee County offices will open at 11:00 a.m. today. According to the Cherokee County Circuit Clerk’s Office, individuals who were scheduled for jury duty on Monday are instructed to report today at 11:15 a.m.

In addition, CED Mental Health will operate on a two-hour delay and will open at 10:00 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring local announcements for any additional updates as cold weather conditions persist.
