Due to winter weather conditions impacting the region, numerous schools, government offices, and organizations have announced closures or delayed operations. The following list reflects the latest information available as of publication time.

Schools and Colleges

• Cherokee County Schools: Three-hour delay on Tuesday.

• Rome City Schools (GA): Closed Monday.

• Floyd County Schools (GA): Regular schedule on Tuesday.

• Gadsden City Schools: Two-hour delay on Tuesday.

• Etowah County Schools: Closed Monday.

• Attalla City Schools: Closed Monday.

• Westbrook Christian School: Closed Monday.

• Coosa Christian School: Closed Monday.

• Marshall County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

• DeKalb County Schools (AL): Two-hour delay on Tuesday.

• Gadsden State Community College: Closed Monday.

• Georgia Highlands College: Closed Monday.

• Georgia Northwestern Technical College: Closed Monday.

• Cleburne County Schools: Closed Monday.

Government Offices and Courts

• All Cherokee County Offices: Closed Monday; reopening Tuesday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m.

  • The Cherokee County Commission meeting scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled for Monday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m.

• Floyd County Administrative Offices: Delayed opening until 10:00 a.m. Monday.

• Floyd County Courthouse: Closed Monday; reopening Tuesday.

• Etowah County Judicial Building: Closed Monday.

  • Note: The Etowah County Courthouse will remain open and operating on a normal schedule.

• Georgia Department of Public Health – Northwest Health District:

  • District office in Rome and county health departments in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Polk, and Walker counties closed Monday.

• Centre City Hall: Closed Monday; reopening Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.

• Cherokee County Circuit Clerk’s Office: Jury duty canceled Monday. Jurors are instructed to report Tuesday at 11:15 a.m.

• Fort Payne Driver’s License Office: Closed Monday.

Businesses and Organizations

• American Apparel (Centre): Delayed start Monday; operations will begin at 8:00 a.m. (two-hour delay).

• C.E.D. Mental Health (Centre): Two-hour delay on Tuesday. Opening at 10am.

• Cedar Bluff Utilities: Closed Monday.

• First Baptist Centre / The ROC: Closed Monday.

• Shepherd’s Fold Daycare: Closed Monday.
