Multiple Fire Departments Respond to Sunday Night Structure Fire

Cowan Creek-Multiple fire departments responded Sunday night to a residential structure fire on County Road 22 in the Pruett’s area.

At approximately 8:49 p.m. on January 18, 2026, Spring Creek, Ellisville, and McCord’s Fire Departments were dispatched by Cherokee County 911 to a reported structure fire at 5467 County Road 22. Spring Creek Fire Department was the first to arrive on scene, reaching the residence within six minutes of dispatch.

Firefighters found a double-wide mobile home with heavy fire involvement on the Alpha and Charlie sides of the structure. With assistance from Ellisville and McCord’s Fire Departments, which provided additional manpower and water supply, crews worked quickly to contain the blaze.

The fire was knocked down and brought under control within 30 minutes of the first unit’s arrival.

Spring Creek Fire Chief Jamey Walker expressed appreciation to Atrium Floyd EMS and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance at the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
