Man Found Dead Following Officer-Involved Shooting in Marshall County

Marshall County- An investigation is ongoing following an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday morning following a domestic-related call near the Blount County line.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with officers from the Guntersville Police Department, responded to a call on Meadowbrook Drive near Highway 79 South. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with an older white male referenced in the call, who was inside a camper at the location.
While deputies and officers attempted to speak with the individual, gunfire was exchanged between law enforcement and the man from inside the camper. No deputies or officers were injured during the incident.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office activated its SWAT team, which responded to the scene. After making entry into the camper, the individual was found deceased.
In accordance with department policy, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) was notified, and the investigation has been turned over to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Sheriff Phil Sims said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
