Gadsden Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire in Alabama City

GADSDEN — The Gadsden Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire Thursday afternoon in the Alabama City area, where crews successfully brought the blaze under control and rescued five young puppies from the home.

According to fire officials, units were dispatched at 3:53 p.m. to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Belle Street. First-arriving crews reported heavy smoke conditions with visible flames coming from the residence.

Firefighters from Quint 4, Engine 1, Rescue 1, Engine 5, Engine 7, EMS 1, along with the department’s Training Officer, two Fire Marshals, Battalion 2, and the Fire Chief worked swiftly to suppress the fire and secure the scene. During the operation, crews located and rescued five six-week-old puppies from inside the structure and safely returned them to their owners.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The Gadsden Fire Department expressed appreciation to the Gadsden Police Department and A-Med Ambulance Service for their assistance at the scene. Special thanks were also extended to Attalla Fire-Rescue for providing coverage on a serious medical call while Gadsden units were committed to the fire response.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
