Ashville holds off Cedar Bluff girls 59-50

CEDAR BLUFF – The Ashville Lady Bulldogs had four players score in double figures, resulting in a 59-50 basketball at Class 2A, No. 4 Cedar Bluff on Monday evening.

Kylie Vadon led the Lady Tigers (17-4) with a game-high 17 points. She also had six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. Janaya Higgins rang for 15 points, including three 3-pointers. She also had five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Scarlett Brown netted nine points to go along with six rebounds and an assist. Ciana Smith finished with five points, four rebounds, a steal, and an assist.

Lydia Northam led Ashville with 14 points, including a pair of treys. Maddie Sanders tossed in 12 points. Hailey Gray gained 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Talisha Samaniego tallied 10 points, including a pair of treys. Allie Cone contributed five points.

Ashville led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Bulldogs held a 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and led 30-21 at halftime. They went on an 18-8 run in the third to take a 48-29 advantage and held on in the fourth for the final.
