Two Centre Women Arrested After Seat Swap, Meth Found During Traffic Stop

ROME — Two Centre women were arrested in Rome after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to Coosa Valley News.

Amy Darlene Mayes, 43, and Amanda Dawn Studdard, 43, were taken into custody after officers reportedly found methamphetamine and a glass pipe containing drug residue inside their vehicle.

Authorities said Mayes attempted to avoid responsibility by swapping seats with another occupant as the vehicle was being pulled over near the intersection of Calhoun and Grady Avenues.

Mayes faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, obstruction, possession of drug-related objects, and permitting an unlicensed person to drive. Studdard was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

Both women were transported to the local jail following their arrests, and the case remains under investigation.
