Structure Fire Destroys Home in Woods Bend Community

Woods Bend Emergency crews responded Tuesday morning to a structure fire in the Woods Bend Community on County Road 38, south of Centre.

According to officials, the call was received during the morning hours, prompting a multi-agency response. Units from the Centre Fire Department, Leesburg Fire Department, Ellisville Fire Department, Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency, Atrium Floyd EMS, and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the residence heavily involved. The home was considered a total loss, and crews were still working to fully extinguish the fire as of approximately 10:30 a.m.

Authorities confirmed that no one was inside the home at the time of the fire. It was also reported that the structure did not have active power or water service.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available and remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
