Rome Man Arrested Following Alleged Assault of Father

According to Coosa Valley News, Joseph Sansom Hicks Jr., 35, of Rome, was arrested this week at his home on Martin Road following an alleged physical altercation involving his father.

Reports stated that Hicks is accused of physically attacking his 56-year-old father by repeatedly punching him in the face, causing bleeding and swelling to the victim’s head. Authorities further reported that Hicks allegedly picked up a large stick with the intent to strike the victim.

Hicks was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and battery. No additional details were released at the time of his arrest.
