Leesburg Officer Honored for Life-Saving Actions During Overdose Incident

LEESBURG, Ala.– Police Officer Tanner Young was formally recognized Monday evening during the Leesburg Town Council meeting for his life-saving actions during an apparent overdose incident, an event that officials say directly contributed to the individual’s survival.

Police Chief Hunter Brisendine confirmed the details of the incident, stating that Officer Young administered Narcan, provided rescue breathing, and ensured cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed at the appropriate times until additional assistance arrived. Chief Brisendine said the officer’s quick response and adherence to established life-saving protocols were critical in stabilizing the individual.

Officer Young was nominated for a Life Saving Award through the American Police Hall of Fame. Chief Brisendine noted that the organization commended Officer Young’s diligence and bravery, describing his actions as an admirable standard for others in law enforcement to follow.

A plaque was presented to Officer Young during the meeting in recognition of his actions and continued commitment to public safety.
