Smoke Reported at Cherokee County Health Department; No Injuries

CENTRE — The Centre Fire Department and Centre Police Department responded to a call around 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Cherokee County Health Department after smoke was observed coming from an air vent inside the facility.

According to Centre Fire Chief Robert Pace, the source of the smoke appeared to be related to a motor within the building’s heating and cooling system.

Only two people were inside the building at the time the smoke was noticed, and the system was turned off as a precaution.

Fire officials determined there was no immediate danger, and the scene was deemed safe.

Maintenance personnel were then called to the facility to address the issue.

No injuries were reported.
