LEESBURG, Ala.– The Leesburg Town Council met Monday afternoon, opening the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation before approving the minutes from the previous meeting.

During the meeting, the council recognized police Officer Tanner Young for life-saving actions taken during an apparent overdose incident. According to officials, the officer administered Narcan, provided rescue breathing, and ensured CPR was performed at the appropriate times. The individual survived the incident.

Officer Young was nominated for a Life Saving Award through the American Police Hall of Fame. Police Chief Hunter Brisendine said the organization praised the officer’s diligence and bravery, calling it an admirable standard for others to follow. A plaque was presented to Officer Young in recognition of the actions, and photos were taken following the presentation.
