-Floyd County Jail records-
More charges have been filed against a man accused of robbing the former State Line Tavern near the Alabama State Line last Saturday night.
According to Floyd County Jail records: 23-year-old Jeffrey Lemar Smith of Gadsden entered the establishment with an AR pistol with the intent to rob the business and patrons.
He pointed the firearm at one man during the incident.
Smith was found hiding in a dumpster in Centre, following a pursuit with Alabama authorities.
He is charged with robbery, plus additional counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Two other suspects remain at large.
The car the 3 suspects were in crashed on west Main Street in Centre. The three men jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot with a manhunt conducted in the Centre area the biggest part of the day on Sunday. Smith was found hiding in a dumpster on west Main Street at Watson Drive. He was taken into custody by a Cherokee County Deputy and Centre Police and charged with attempting to elude. After being booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center he was extradited to Floyd County where he remains lodged in the Floyd County Jail.
