
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala.– The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman found inside a home in the Rock Run community.
Sheriff’s officials say a 911 call was received Friday night around 10:55 reporting a deceased female at a residence on County Road 29 near Piedmont. Deputies, Spring Garden Valley Fire, and Piedmont EMS responded and found a woman and her dog deceased inside the home.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Neely Brooke Williams.
Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald says foul play is not suspected at this time, but a forensic examination is being conducted due to the condition of the body. Jacksonville State University’s Center for Applied Forensics assisted at the scene, along with specialists from surrounding counties.
The coroner has ruled the manner of death undetermined. Next of kin were located and notified late Sunday night. The investigation remains ongoing.
