Gadsden Man In Custody
In the early morning hours on Sunday, local law enforcement officers spotted a car that was a suspect vehicle in an armed robbery in Floyd County Saturday evening.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on the Cedar Bluff Road approaching Centre. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled causing a high speed pursuit. The car crashed on west Main Street near South Pratt Street in Centre. It was reported 3 black males fled the scene on foot. Several hours later, a Sheriff’s Deputy and a Centre Police officer took one suspect into custody. He is identified as Jeffrey Smith, 23 of a Gadsden address. He is lodged in the County Detention Center on a charge of attempt to elude.

Chief Deputy Josh Summerford tells WEIS Radio News, a large number of law enforcement officers using technology and drones did not locate the others in the immediate area.
The Cherokee County EMA and Cherokee County Rescue Squad assisted local Law Enforcement Agencies in the search for the suspects using drone technology.
The Floyd County Authorities are investigating the robbery in Floyd County.
