Jerome Jan Schoonhoven, 58, of Alabama, was killed earlier this week in a single-vehicle crash on Cedartown Highway at Shorthorn Road in Floyd County, Georgia.
According to reports, Schoonhoven was traveling southbound in a Toyota Tacoma when the truck slid off the roadway, struck a driveway embankment, and was launched into the air. The vehicle flipped end over end before coming to rest approximately 150 feet from the point of impact.
Floyd County Chief Deputy Coroner Chris Giles said Schoonhoven was pronounced dead at the scene.
Giles added that it appeared Schoonhoven was not wearing a seatbelt, though he was not ejected from the vehicle.
