Gaylesville Firefighters Contain Grass and Woods Fire Near County Road 115

GAYLESVILLE — Gaylesville firefighters responded Tuesday morning to a grass and woods fire that spread from a previously reported controlled burn near County Road 115.

According to dispatch reports, the fire was initially reported Monday evening as a controlled burn in a field. However, the fire flared up overnight and, by Tuesday morning, had spread into a nearby wood line and adjacent fields. A passerby noticed the growing fire and alerted authorities, prompting the Gaylesville Fire Department to respond.

The fire was advancing toward an area with several mobile homes, raising concerns about potential property damage. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread deeper into the woods, where it could have become a more serious incident.
The fire burned into the edge of approximately 300 yards of wood line before crews stopped its forward progress. No injuries were reported, and no damage was reported beyond burned grass, fields, and wooded property.
Crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots and assessing the total acreage burned at the time WEIS left the scene.
