19-Year-Old Found in Ditch in Centre; Investigation Ongoing

Centre, Ala. — A 19-year-old man was found lying face down in a ditch in Centre on Sunday evening, prompting a response from local law enforcement and emergency medical services.

According to police, a passerby discovered the man around 5:30 p.m. in a ditch off Griffith Street, in the area behind Walmart, and contacted authorities. Centre police units responded and located the individual, who was responsive and able to speak with officers.

During the initial investigation, officers determined the man is from LaFayette, Georgia. When questioned about his presence in the area, the man told police he had laid down to rest. He later indicated that he required medical attention.

Atrium Floyd EMS responded to the scene to examine the man. Police also located several bags nearby containing what was described as a suspicious substance. No arrests were made at the scene.

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation, and charges could be filed at a later time if warranted.
